Begin the new year by expanding your percussion skills! In January 2014, Calixto Oviedo will be teaching a series of Masters Classes at California State University. On January 26th at 7:30pm Calixto and the Afro Latin Ensemble will offer a fund-raising concert with special guest stars Yosmel Montejo (bass) and Josiel Pérez (trumpet). Tickets are $15-$20. Get ready, because European Timberos are coming out strong in 2014! First up is a promo with a medley of some of the songs from the soon-to-be-released Soneros All Stars production, "Lolo". I can't give you an exact release date yet, but I dare to say that "Lolo" will be part of the Timbero Summer 2014 soundtrack of your lives. Just check out the lead vocalists: Emilio "El Niño" Frias, Pascual "Sinsonte" Matos, Sixto "El Indio" Llorente, José Antonio "Pepitín" Rodriguez, Lesmer Solenzar and Pedro "El Nene" Lugo. Arrangements are by Jan "Yanesito" Bogdan who also plays tres and bass on the CD and did the production and mixing at Tres N'Bass Studios. The end of the promo provides the full list of credits.
