Tom's San José Jazz Gallery #4
This is the final gallery from the 2012 SJ Jazz. Next up for the Bay Area is Pedrito Martínez at Yoshi's Oakland on September 20th
Sukary Valverde, Félix Samuel, Erick Barbería of Team Bahía
Book News: Don Skoog's Bata Drumming: The Oru Seco isn't new, but I was just re-reading it and it's Incredibly good. The first half is genuinely poetic history of AfroCuban folkloric music and the second half is a meticulous transcription of the Oru Seco.
Havana d'Primera's Pasaporte is out in Wide Release!

Click here for Tom's PMO gallery from Friday night as the SJ Jazz. Wil Campa photos still to come. In other Bay Area news, John Santos' lecture series on Puerto Rican music continues on Wednesday nights at MoAD and Jerry and Andy González will be at Herbst Theater on October 18th as part of the SF Jazz. Melón and Buika at the same venue on November 16th. Book News: nada ... it just keeps getting longer and longer.
