Timba Percussion Clinics - April 23-26-28

OK timberos and timberas here's another great opportunity to be exposed to the inner mechanics of the music we love. On SATURDAY APRIL 23 there will be a Beyond Salsa Percussion clinic in Vancouver, Canada, at the Long & McQuade Drum Department located at 368 Terminal Avenue. The clinic features Jorge Luis "Papiosco" Torres & Calixto Oviedo, currently on tour with the Afro-Cuban All-Stars.

The clinics on the 26 & 28 of APRIL are in Los Angeles, at the CAL-STATE campus (full website here) and they are FREE (GRATIS). These are almost FULL so get there EARLY because seating is limited.

El músico y compositor Moise González se encuentra actualmente ultimando los detalles para lo que será el lanzamiento de su nuevo trabajo discográfico “Relatos” que verá la luz el día 1 de abril de 2010. Para este lanzamiento ha querido utilizar como sencillo “De Canarias a La Habana”, una canción que, según palabras de Moise “compuse dejándome llevar por las sensaciones que comparten mi corazón entre Canarias y Cuba, mi segunda casa”.

Para esta producción se ha movido hasta Miami para grabar con una selección impecable de músicos: Ángel Arce (pututi II), Edward Magariaga, Robert Vilera, Alexis Arce (pututi I), Yanko, Tony Pérez y Alberto Barros, entre otros.

Today's Radio Timba playlist includes tracks we've received from Havana and Lima. Maykel Blanco sends us his new live track "Un Kilo" with Michelito on vocals. "Un Kilo" was recorded live at Casa De la Música Mirmar in Havana.

Hot from Lima are Elio Reve's "Jala Jala", which features the sons of Pachito Alonso, Cristian and Rey, on vocals, and the father and son duo of Pedrito Calvo Jr. and Perdro Calvo (ex-Van Van).

"Timba Manía" is a track produced and recorded by Bárbaro Fines and his Mayimbe band for a televisión show. Mayimbe has really taken over the city by storm.
