Pablo Milanés will be back in Spain for two concerts in March before setting out on a world tour later this year. His long-awaited new CD will also be released later this year, and we will get back to you as soon as we have the details. For now the two dates in Spain are:
March 13, 2013  – San Sebastián, Spain  – Victoria Eugenia
March 15, 2012  – A Coruña, Spain – Teatro Colón

I finally saw Pablo live last October in Madrid and it was a thrilling experience. If you don't live in Spain, just take a a mini vacation like I did. The New Year is off to an auspicious start! La Letra del Año has confirmed that the world will not end in 2012, and even more importantly, Tirso Duarte will be making his first NYC appearance on March 2nd at S.O.B.s! Ladies and gentlemen, timberas y timberos, this is truly a magnificent event so don't miss it, or you will never forgive yourself! We will get back to you ASAP with more US tour dates.

Tirso is an infinitely talented pianist, composer and arranger, and for the younger generation he is the new voice of timba. During his brilliant career he has written and arranged many of the hits of the post-break-up Charanga Habanera before moving on to NG La Banda and Pupy y Los Que Son Son, finally making his mark on Cuban music as a solo artist. As you can tell I am a huge fan myself. Here is a small taste from the Sons of Cuba DVD which many of you have already seen, but it merits watching over and over again...Manos pa'rriba la gente de la noche y la luna llena .

Rumba class with Mi Salsa Cubana in Havana

Mi Salsa Cubana has published the dates of their Cuba dance trips for 2013 and 2014.
2013: 23-24 of March to 6-7 of April, 5-6 October to 19-20  October, 28-29 of December 2013 to 4- 5 of January 2014 (half price 1 week)
2014: 4-5 of January to18-19 of January, 12-13 of April to 26-27 of April

There are classes for all levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced as well as for singles, guys, girls, ladies, men and couples. All participants get a Cuban dance partner. The 14 days intensive dance program offers classes in Salsa, Son, Rueda de Casino, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, and Rumba. Timba fans, La Aplanadora de Cuba will be rolling through Europe again in just about ten days! They are touring for three weeks and will be in Italy, France, Spain and Germany. Click here to find a concert near you. In my opinion, El Charangón is the most hardcore timba band today! Check out Susel and tell me if I'm right. Todo lo que sube tiene que caer!
