Melvis Santa returned to Sabor a Cafe, this time backed by Mike Aleman, guitar; Brett Benteler, bass; Frankie Ocasio, congas and Orbert Davis, trumpet. This proved to be a very effective combination as the musicians have worked with other Cuban artists such as Chuchito Valdés, Mezcla, Angel D'Cuba and others. The sets were cool and intense at the same time.
Sabor a Café is in the process of planning an expansion which, when complete, will allow them to host larger audiences and ensembles (this show was filled to capacity). We look forward to the larger venue with great anticipation; in the meantime, the current room continues to host a lot of great music - you can see their full calendar here.
