2000 - El Charanguero Mayor - When the original Charanga Habanera split into three parts in the late 90's, Calzado put together another phenomenally talented group of young musicians. Calzado and pianist/singer Tirso Duarte created a drastically different and musically revolutionary new style which kept Charanga Habanera on the cutting edge of the Timba revolution. This is our most ambitious article to date. In addition to full lyrics and audio examples it will have extensive MIDI examples of Duarte's groundbreaking piano and bass tumbaos.

2001 - Chan Chan Charanga - While Duarte had left the band, much of the material here was either written or arranged by him. The best of the album is every bit as good as Charanguero mayor. Released in Cuba as Tiene de Cuba, tiene melao.
