Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Unfortunately I do not know the names of his band musicians. He was accompanied by a bass player, a three piece brass section (sometimes he also has a flute player he told me later), conguero, pianist and timbales.

The next song was a "Cumbia cubanisada" as Chacón announced it. That means that the rhythm was Cumbia, but bass and piano tumbaos were clearly Timba.

The first set was concluded with a song from his album Salsa Afrocubana called A la buena si, which is a fantastic timba piece that included a brilliant a capella part together with his musicians.

The second set was opened with Te gusto o te caigo bien. Need I say more? Que tienes ahí? was the following song.

Osvaldo Chacón did several improvisations, one was called Timba para Suíza where he impressively demonstrated his singing and improvising skills.

"Aunque no hablo Alemán
yo se que me entienden...
...porque la Timba Cubana
es universal"

But the big finale was without a doubt when Chacón invited Alfredo Hechevarría, who stood aside watching the concert, to join him on stage. He took over the bass and set the band, as well as the audience, on fire.

If you have any possibility to see Chacón live, don’t miss the opportunity, because you definitely will get a great Timba concert!

At least I would like to mention the technical part of the show. What seemed to be impossible for a Timba concert in Switzerland was fulfilled in the small town of Lichtensteig: The sound as well as the mix were absolutely brilliant.
