Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

History - The Second Great Charanga Habanera - 1998-2001

The Second Great Charanga Habanera - 1998-2001

The group that David Calzado assembled in late 1998 was as great as the original, but very different. He found a genius pianist-arranger to replace JC González in the person of Tirso Duarte, who would play a profound role with various groups in the subsequent decade. The rest of the rhythm section was also brilliant with Yulién Oviedo on timbales and the extremely innovative Mengual brothers on congas and bongó. This period is also covered by  "The Breakup and Beyond", which contains links to the two studio albums the group produced.

Los Charangueros de Ayer, pt. 2 begins with Roberto "Cucurucho" Carlos and Sandier Ante, the pianist and singer who replaced JC González and Dany Lozada, and then moves on to the legendary Tirso Duarte band.
