SpanishEnglishGuaco
Guaco is Venezuela's most popular dance band and have remained at the top of the charts for over 50 years and counting. They were funded in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1964 by Alsonso "Pompo" Aguado and a group of neighbors to play a regional style of music called gaita. They started off playing tradionally but their progressive tendencies to expand their sound saw them mixing rock, salsa and jazz (plus ocassionally dabbling in Timba) to incredible success and an explotion on popularity. Their career can be roughly divided into six or more "stages" and here in Timba.com we will be exploring them in depth.
