Timbalive was founded in August 2008 in Miami Florida by its Director, Leo Garcia and rapidly became one of the most important working Timba bands in the United States.   It has worked with Cuban stars such as  Issac Delgado, Manolin "El Medico de la Salsa", Pedrito Calvo, Mayito Rivera and Alexander Abreu, and in 2012, its second album La timba pa' to' el mundo, was nominated for a Cubadisco award (Cuba's equivalent of the GRAMMY) in current popular dance music category, a rare honor for a US-based dance band.
