Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Arsenio Rodríguez Project Coming to Yoshi's SF

Saturday, Sept. 28 Yoshi's San Fran ------- Sunday, Sept 29 La Granada in L.A.

The Arsenio Rodríguez Project will be playing Yoshi's SF this Saturday night. This is an all-star group with New York legends Nelson González on tres and José Mangual, Jr. on bongó, plus Josiel Pérez on trumpet from Maraca's band and the Bay Area's own Carlos Caro on congas.

On Sunday, they fly to LA to play the Grenada in Alhambra.

Here's our new section on the band

In other Arsenio news, Beyond Salsa Bass, Vol. 2: Arsenio, Cachao and The Golden Age, will be out in a day or two. It has 120 pages on Arsenio. [Kevin Moore]

Great lineup...

These should be great shows. Incidentally, Josiel Perez, who plays trumpet in this group, is also the leader of the AC Jazz Project, which is playing at Catalina's in Los Angeles for the CD release of Conga Buena by the AC Jazz Project on Thursday the 26th. Alberto Tamayo, who sings in this Arsenio project, also sang on some of that recording. If you are down in LA this week, I highly recommend catching both bands.
