The live performance that haunts my soul forever... is by Bamboleo, specifically Vania, for example first song El Protagonista, after about 4:30 she hardly needs a band at all... heart and soul of timba, if not the whole of Cuban music, right there in one sole voice ;-).

I think someone said the recording was actually on a US tour, maybe at the Conga Room LA? So not in any temple of timba, not witnessed by the reparteros, not spied on for the ministry of culture... but truly great anyway ;-). Unlike Issac D as per the video, this band didn't seem to dumb down for the extranjero shows.

And does someone know. some tragic story why only four songs and no video survives of the show, so good in these bits?

Given that... the tragic mismatch adding the side B mixes made it so MANY people never gave the CD a second listen. Right solution is ... play side A... a LOT. Which I do...
