ENGLISH: The 2019 edition of Varadero Josone Music Festival is almost upon us. The concerts begin at 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 22nd and run into the wee hours of the morning on Monday the 26th. Elito Revé Stockholm 2019 Elito Revé & Ogbe Shé i Stockholm at the concert hosted by JVH Events

ENGLISH: Elito Revé y Su Charangón are finishing up their European tour with a concert tonight in Catania, Italy and a grand finale at Antilliaanse Feesten in Hoogstraten, Belgium Saturday, August 10. They conrinue their summer tour in Japan with ten concerts, from August 20th through September 1st.

2019 has been a great year so far for Orquesta Revé. In May together with Los Van Van, they won the Grand Prize at Cubadisco 2019 for the DVD "Dos Leyendas" - a megaconcert with Orquesta Revé and Los Van Van filmed in December 2017. The Charangón also has a CD hot off the presses: "¡UEA!". It isn't available at digital retailers yet, but if you get a chance to catch them in concert you can buy the CD as well as the DVD, so bring some extra cash.

Elito sat down with Timba.com before the concert ni Stockholm Auust 3rd, to talk a little about "¡UEA!", the DVD and upcoming plans for the Charangón. Next February they will tour all of Cuba, beginning in Oriente and moving west. They will be back for a longer European tour in 2020 as well. ESPAÑOL: Elito Revé y Su Charangón están terminando su gira europea con un concierto esta noche en Catania, Italia y una gran final en Antilliaanse Feesten en Hoogstraten, Bélgica el sábado 10 de agosto. Continúan su gira de verano en Japón con diez conciertos, del 20 de agosto al 1 de septiembre.

2019 ha sido un gran año hasta ahora para Orquesta Revé. En mayo, junto con Los Van Van, ganaron el Gran Premio en Cubadisco 2019 por el DVD "Dos Leyendas", un megaconcert con Orquesta Revé y Los Van Van filmado en diciembre de 2017. El Charangón también tiene un CD recién terminado: " ¡UEA! ". The band will tour Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, France and Spain from now until November 9th! Check for a concert near you. La Clave Cubana by Monsi y Su Salsa

"La Clave Cubana" by Monsi y Su Salsa is the first single from "El Tambor", an upcoming album with an expected release during the spring of 2020. The project is under the direction of percussionist Simon Monserrat, who is also the composer and arranger. Released on October 19th, within 24 hours "La Clave Cubana" was on the Spotify Salsa Cubana Top 100 list. It is available at the digital sites below.

Monsi took time to tell us a little bit about his inspiration for the song as well as what is coming next.

Simon Monserrat @bytrajkovski I grew up with Cuban music, coming from a family where both my dad and uncle are musicians. My uncle started a legendary Venezuelan salsa group Federico y Su Combo, according to musicologists it was the first group to have salsa as the name of a record, "Llego la Salsa". But in my opinion, and that's why the lyric say so, salsa = musica cubana, although it has also included influences of other countries' traditions.

The inspiration for the song is simply my love of Cuban music, which I have grown up with have been playing as a musician for more than 30 years now. I also had the good fortune to play with one of the best, Bebo Valdes, for several years, so he is my musical mentor. I have also worked with bassist Vincent Chappotin,

and many other great Cuban musicians such as Calixto Oviedo, who plays drums and timbales on the track.

It's a very international collaboration, "La Clave Cubana" was recorded here in Sweden, in Finland, piano and bass in New York, drums and timbales in LA.

The album will be called "El Tambor" - a recurring theme on the album which features a lot of percussion. The single "El Tambor" will be released om Novmeber 18 featuring Edgar 'El Dolor' Quijada, one of Venezuela's best 'salsa dura' singers and lead singer right now in Bailatino.
