ENGLISH: For the past month both Los Van Van and Havana D'Primera have been touring the US. They performed together in San Diego on May 1st and are now winding down their US tours with two joint concerts in Florida: tomorrow at the Charles Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines and Saturday at Hard Rock Café in Orlando. Hopefully Bill will check in soon with a round-up of all the Cubadisco 2022 results, but in case you missed it, the big winner this year was Havana D'Primera, who took home the Grand Prize as well as winning in the Dance Music and Sound Design categories.

ENGLISH: The reknowned Cuban orchestra Adalberto Álvarez y Su Son are currently touring Europe and we took the opportunity to talk with pianist and Adalberto's right-hand, Dorgeris Álvarez about the tour, the new CD "De Cuba Pa'l Mundo Entero", upcoming events and also about her life growing up in a family of famous soneros where she took on the role of pianist for her father's band at the age of 16. If you are in Europe, the band still has four concerts left so check their tours page for a concert near you.

ENGLISH: "Somos Mayores" the CD/DVD from the 12th Anniversary concert of Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor will soon be released to the international market. It is currently only available in Cuba. The concert was a collaboration with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra and consists of 10 tracks, including the intro and a choreography section in the middle. The combination of the music Salsa Mayor and the Symphony Orchestra works beautifully, it never feels forced, and considering the Cuban tradition of charangas, the inclusion of strings in the arrangements is completely natural and extremely danceable.  When it is released I suspect we will only be able to get the audio part. It is very hard nowadays to get a hardcopy outside Cuba and the digital retailers don't seem to be selling the video files. But we'll just have to see. Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor will be touring South America at the end of April and in the fall they will be in Europe. Hopefully they will bring the hardcopy with them, so take some cash with you if you attend a concert.

ESPAÑOL: "Somos Mayores" el CD / DVD del concierto del 12 ° Aniversario de Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor pronto será lanzado al mercado internacional. Actualmente solo está disponible en Cuba. El concierto fue una colaboración con la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba y consta de 10 pistas, incluida la introducción y una sección de coreografía en el medio. La combinación de la música de La Salsa Mayor y La Orquesta Sinfónica funciona maravillosamente, nunca se siente forzada, y teniendo en cuenta la tradición cubana de las charangas, la inclusión de cuerdas en los arreglos es completamente natural y sumamente bailable. ENGLISH: Today marks the start of the 10th National Changüí Festival Elio Revé Matos in Guantanamo. Yesterday there was a press conference and a showing of the short film "Una Fiesta de Changüí".  The 10th edition is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Arturo Latamblé, the 70th anniversary of the group Estrellas Campesinas, the 15th anniversary of La Casa Del Changüí and the 85th anniversary of the radio station CMKS, as well as to the presidents of La Cumbancha peñas.

As with previous years, the festival will comprise seminars, changüí music competitions, dance competions and many concerts, including "El Changüí más largo del mundo". Events will take place in Guantanamo City but also in other municipalties in the area. To keep up with the activites, follow the Facebook pages of Changüiseros por el mundo and Destino Guantanamo.

I leave you with the documentary "Este es nuestro changüí", written by Yaremis Estonel and José Cuenca and directed by David Hernández, who won the award for direction in the Long Form Music Video category at the 18th Independent Music Awards in 2020.

ESPAÑOL: Hoy se da inicio al X Festival Nacional de Changüí Elio Revé Matos en Guantánamo. Ayer hubo rueda de prensa y proyección del cortometraje "Una Fiesta de Changüí". La décima edición está dedicada a los 110 años del natalicio de Arturo Latamblé, los 70 años del grupo Estrellas Campesinas, los 15 años de La Casa Del Changüí y los 85 años de la emisora ​​CMKS, así como a los presidentes de las peñas La Cumbancha.

Como en años anteriores, el festival comprenderá coloquios, concursos de música changüí, concursos de baile y muchos conciertos, incluido "El Changüí más largo del mundo".
