Today marks the beginning of the annual Carnaval Cubano in Wroclow, Poland. The Carnaval includes concerts by FClan on Friday and Jose Torres y Salsa Tropical featuring Mayito Rivera on Saturday. You can see a short clip from one of their rehearsals above. In addition to the concerts, parties and dance shows at night, by day you can take part in dance and music workshops, lectures, a culinary presentation and on Sunday don't miss the noon screening of "The Black Roots of Salsa: The Emancipation of Cuban Rumba". Yulién Oviedo has just released his new video for "Cuba está de moda" and it couldn't have arrived at a more propitious time with visits later this month by President Obama and The Rolling Stones who will give a free concert. An enjoyable salsaton with fun coros and even a tip of the hat to the US national anthem. Well played Yulién, well played.

Alexander Abreu & Havana D'Primera have just released the official video clip for the single "Conga pa' cerrar" from their latest album "La vuelta al mundo". This is another blazing arrangement by these masters of Timba and cubanía . They have been working on their new CD and in February released a little teaser of the new song "Siempre sí" on the Havana D'Primera Facebook page . This month they perform in Venezuela, next month Peru, and Alexander has also recorded on the upcoming CD by Emilio Frias "El Niño" y La Verdad. 2016 is going to be a great year for timba releases!

Bárbaro Fines y su Mayimbe Europe 2016

On the heels of the release of "Te Vi Nacer" - their third and hottest CD yet - Bárbaro Fines y su Mayimbe are in Europe and will kick off their month-long tour tonight with a concert at Palacio de la Salsa in Riccione, Italy. The tour will take them to Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Sweden.  Click here to find a concert near you. We know that El Niño y La Verdad have been in the studio working on their next release, so stay tuned for updates about the new CD, which features a number of guest artists including José Alberto "El Canario" and Alexander Abreu.
