On May 19th Maykel Blanco announced at Facebook that singer Alexis David Zamora Garrido will be leaving Salsa Mayor. Word has it that Alexis David will be joining David Calzado y Su Charanga Habanera. Today Maykel announced that he has signed two singers: Yunier Pérez Enrique and Alejandro González Casanova who we know from Azúcar Negra. The announcement said that they will be recording their first TV program with Los Mayores today, and their first performance with the band will be in the middle of June. We wish Alexis David our best in his new role with the charangueros and are excited to see and hear the new Salsa Mayor with a four man front line!

Winner of the Cubadisco 2015 Award
Best Popular Dance Album by a New Group

"Llegó la Verdad" was released in Spetember 2014 and nominated for three awards in Cubadisco 2015: Popular Dance Music by a New Group , Opera Prima and Best Recording . They faced stiff competition from the likes of  Alaín Pérez, JG, Alaín Daniel and Laritza Bacallao but took home the prize for Popular Dance Music. I can only agree with the judges decision. "Llegó la Verdad" has been at the top of my playlist for the past nine months. It is rare these days to find an album where you don't skip at least one or two songs. But El Niño y La Verdad have produced a killer dance album that is a true representation of all that is best in Cuban dance music. Click here for the review.

Today Orderquis Revé y Su Changüí have released two singles: "Vacúnala and "La Vida". The songs are available at iTunes, Amazon and other digital retailers worldwide. This is the first fruit of the new Tumbao Republika label based in Antwerp, Belgium and founded by two dedicated promoters of Cuban music. The single is a teaser for the album that will drop at the end of the year. 

Oderquis' music has all the raw power of changüí and the new songs are sizzling dance tracks, so buy yours now! As a friend of mine pointed out - "You can barely get a napkin at Starbucks for under $2". Get ready to be seeing a lot more about Oderquis Revé y su Changüí here at Timba.com as their long overdue section will soon be published.

ENGLISH: On August 20th 2017 a new cultural center was inaugurated in Vedado at 31 & 2. What could be more auspicious than a new Casa de la Música in the neighborhood known as "La Timba"? Unlike the other CDLM, the entry fee is reported to be 8 CUC for Cubans and 15 CUC for foreigners. So far the concert schedule is not showing up at Suenacubano, but I know that Giraldo Piloto y Klímax played there recently and it was Piloto that was kind enough to send us a photo of the new building. In addition to the Casa de la Música, the new cultural center includes a piano bar, a public library, a bookstore, art rooms and a store among other things. ESPAÑOL: El 20 de agosto de 2017 se inauguró un nuevo centro cultural en el Vedado a 31 y 2. ¿Qué podría ser más auspicioso que una nueva Casa de la Música en el barrio conocido como La Timba? A diferencia de las otras CDLM, la entrada es de 8 CUC para cubanos y 15 CUC para extranjeros. Hasta ahora el calendario de conciertos no está apareciendo en Suenacubano, pero sé que Giraldo Piloto y Klímax tocaban allí recientemente y fue Piloto quien tuvo la amabilidad de enviarnos una foto del nuevo edificio. Además de la Casa de la Música, el nuevo centro cultural incluye un piano bar, una biblioteca pública, una librería, salas de arte y una tienda entre otras cosas.
