ENGLISH: The pandemic hasn't slowed Yasser Ramos, it seems to have energized him with ideas. In recent weeks he has released "Despertar Distinto", "Vengo del Monte" and now "Llanto de una Piel", a song inspired by the issue of racism. In all cases, the lyrics transmit a message worth listening in itself, to while the arrangements are still timba pa'l bailador. The band continues living up to the "tumbao" in their name. En las últimas semanas ha lanzado "Despertar Distinto", "Vengo del Monte" y ahora "Llanto de una Piel", una canción inspirada en el tema del racismo. En todos los casos, la letra transmite un mensaje que vale la pena escuchar en sí mismo, mientras los arreglos siguen siendo timba pa'l bailador. ENGLISH: The Cubaneando Festival is held annually in Montreal, Quebec, but due to COVID-19, it is moving on-line this year. The event will take place from July 31st - August 2 and will include DJs, percussion workshops by Tomas Ramos "El Panga, cooking and dance workshops, Cuban films, and concerts. Aisar y El Expresso de Cuba will be closing the event with a concert August 2 at 6:20 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, transmitting from La Terraza de Cerro looking out over Havana. ENGLSH: Yesterday was a big day for new releases. One of the newer bands on the timba scene, Maichel Blanco y Combinación Cubana's "Ella no está" is a nice medium tempo romatica. Tania Pantoja is one of the great female timba voicesand she brings us "Ya no me busques". El Niño y La Verdad released "Sufiendo tu amor" on the heels of the Voces de Hoy project, showing that the band is still working on its own original material. All singles can be found at your favorite digital retailer or streaming site. In these tough times, if you can support your favorite artists by spending 99 cents on a single, it can make a bigger difference than you may realize.

ESPAÑOL: Ayer fue un gran día para nuevos lanzamientos. "Ella no está" de Maichel Blanco y Combinación Cubana, nna de las bandas más nuevas en la escena de la timba, es una bonita romática de tempo medio. Tania Pantoja es una de las grandes voces femeninas de timba y nos trae "Ya no me busques". El Niño y La Verdad lanzó "Sufiendo tu amor" siguiendo el proyecto Voces de Hoy, demostrando que la banda todavía está trabajando en su propio material original. Todos los sencillos se pueden encontrar en tu minorista digital o sitio de transmisión favorito. En estos tiempos difíciles, si puedas apoyar a tus artistas favoritos gastando 99 centavos en un sencillo, puede hacer una diferencia mayor de lo que crees.

ENGLISH: Tomorrow, Saturday, August 22nd "La Supremacía" by Lachy y La Suprema Ley drops worldwide at digital retailers and streaming sites. Released on the Warachando Records label, the album contains 12 tracks and features guest singers Mayito Rivera and Yordys Larrazábal. The arrangments are by Lachy. 

Although you can find some of the songs at YouTube from live performances, Dj Warapo told us a little about what we can expect from the studio album.

"The album consists of 12 tracks. inclduding the intro. There are several Songos, which is the style Lachy is defending. What separates Lachy from the rest is the incorporation of the violin, which gives it a touch of retro Van Van. There is a bolero, which is a tribute to el gran Beny Moré, called "Rezo En La Noche" that El Beny sang back in the day. There is a song on the album called "El Candelazo" sung by Alvaro "El Mayoral" which lasts 9 and a half minutes. The concept of the song is making a long track like Adalberto's "Qué Tú Quieres Que Te Den" singing very contagious "Timba callejero coros" so all the timberos can sing and dance. It brings a different dynamic to the traditional timba track. The track is approached in an urban fashion, which works quite nicely and we can see the new generation identifying with that style. The song Yordys sings is with Pedro Luis [Barrizonte] titled "Nacer Con Ella" and talks about how you need to be born with it to be a star. The song with Mayito is also with Pedro and is titled "Son 500", a tribute to Havana's 500 year anniversary."

Bandleader, composer, arranger and bassist Lázaro Osniel Correa Martínez, better known as Lachy, also took the time to tell us a little about himself and the origins of the band. Click here to read the interview in English.

Lanzado en el sello Warachando Records, el álbum contiene 12 pistas y cuenta con los cantantes invitados Mayito Rivera y Yordys Larrazábal. Los arreglos son de Lachy.

Aunque puedes encontrar algunas de las canciones de presentaciones en vivo en YouTube, Dj Warapo nos contó un poco sobre lo que podemos esperar del álbum de estudio.

"El disco consta de 12 temas incluyendo la intro. Hay varios Songos, que es el estilo que defiende Lachy. Lo que separa a Lachy del resto es la incorporación del violín, que le da un toque retro de Van Van. Hay un bolero, que es un homenaje al gran Beny Moré, llamado "Rezo En La Noche" que cantó El Beny en su día. Hay una canción en el álbum llamada "El Candelazo" cantada por Álvaro "El Mayoral" que dura 9 minutos y medio. El concepto de la canción es hacer una pista larga como "Qué Tú Quieres Que Te Den" de Adalberto cantando "Timba callejero coros" muy contagiosos para que todos los timberos puedan cantar y bailar. Aporta una dinámica diferente al pista de timba tradicional. La pista se aborda de manera urbana, lo que funciona bastante bien y podemos ver a la nueva generación identificándose con ese estilo. La canción que canta Yordys es con Pedro Luis [Barrizonte] titulada "Nacer Con Ella" y habla de cómo necesitas nacer con ella para ser una estrella. La canción con Mayito también está con Pedro y se titula "Son 500", un homenaje al 500 aniversario de La Habana ".
