ENGLISH: 2018 keeps on giving and now one of Cuba's most popular young singers - Yordys Larrazabal - is putting the finishing touches on his solo album, and you can't beat the title, "Esto Me Huele A Éxito" [This Smells Like Success To Me]. The album is being released on the MBRecord label, and I was chatting with Yordys today and he told us a little of what we can expect.

The album has 10 songs: 8 of my authorship, a version of a song by maestro Juan Formell, "Tú me haces falta" and another song by a friend, the pianist of Sur Caribe - Rubert La Rosa - "La ley". Arrangers, look ... Manolito Simonet, Joaquin Betancourt, Maykel Blanco, Alfonso Espinosa, Lazarito Valdés, Roelvis Reyes "Bombon", Maykel García "Cuchilla", Yusef Díaz + your servant! Musicians who recorded: many and madrina there were 29! On piano Rolando Luna and others that you might know. The thing is that there are a lot of them, but it was a pure pleasure! And a violin and cello section! Anyway, I tried to give the album a feel of my world and myself! You'll hear influences from Funk, Rock, something very simple from R&B and my strenth, my timba! ESPAÑOL: 2018 sigue dando y ahora uno de los cantantes jóvenes más populares de Cuba, Yordys Larrazabal, está dando los últimos toques a su álbum en solitario, y no se puede superar el título, "Esto Me Huele A Éxito". El álbum se está lanzando en la etiqueta MBRecord, y hoy estaba chateando con Yordys y nos contó un poco de lo que podemos esperar.

El disco cuenta con 10 temas, 8 de mi autoría, una versión de una canción del maestro Juan Formell, "Tú me haces falta" y otro tema de un amigo, pianista de la orquesta Sur Caribe - Rubert La Rosa - "La ley". Arreglistas, mira...Manolito Simonet, Joaquin Betancourt, Maykel Blanco, Alfonso Espinosa, Lazarito Valdés, Roelvis Reyes "Bombon", Maykel García "Cuchilla", Yusef Díaz + un servidor! Músicos que grabaron, muchísimos y madrina que fueron 29! Contando en los pianos a Rolando Luna y otros que quizás conoces. Es que son muchos pero un puro placer! Cuerdas de violines y chelos! En fin, traté de llevarlo a mi terreno que huela a mí! Ahí escucharás influencias de Funk, Rock, algo muy sencillo de R&B y mi fuerte, mi timba! YORDIS LARRAZABAL

ENGLISH: Cuban DJ Mandy Angueira, known to Cuban music fans as Mandy DJ, has released an excellent 29-minute video report (in Spanish) from the 2018 Festival de la Salsa en Cuba. It contains short clips of performances as well as interviews with musicians and DJs and excerpts from seminars and excursions for the festival participants. It breaks my heart that I still haven't been able to attend one of these festivals. Will 2019 finally be my year?

ESPAÑOL: El DJ cubano Mandy Angueira, conocida por los fanáticos de la música cubana como Mandy DJ, ha lanzado un video reportaje excelente de 29 minutos (en español) del Festival de la Salsa en Cuba 2018. Contiene clips cortos de actuaciones, así como entrevistas con músicos y DJs y extractos de seminarios y excursiones para los participantes del festival. Me rompe el corazón que todavía no haya podido asistir a uno de estos festivales. ¿2019 finalmente será mi año?

ENGLISH: The 2019 Festival de la Salsa en Cuba will take place from February 19-24 at Parque Almendares. This year, participants will take an excursion with Festival President, Maykel Blanco, to the Amadeo Roldán music school. There will also be dance workshops with live music. ESPAÑOL: El Festival de la Salsa en Cuba 2019 tendrá lugar del 19 al 24 de febrero en el Parque Almendares. Este año, los participantes realizarán una excursión con el presidente del Festival, Maykel Blanco, a la escuela de música Amadeo Roldán. También habrá talleres de baile con música en vivo. ENGLISH: Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor are keeping up their busy tour schedule. Having just returned from a tour of Japan, their Europe 2018 Tour begins with a concert Friday, September 14 in Wroclow, Poland and ends on October 7 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Click here for the European Tour dates. With a brief stop in Havana where they will celebrate their 14th anniversary at La Tropical, they move on to their US Tour 2018. As usual the concerts will be confined to the two coasts. Click here for the US Tour dates. Two concerts have yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for more info about the special concerts October 23rd and October 26th. The band will be performing new songs from their upcoming album "Qué tiene que te mueve"! ENGLISH: This year there are eight Cuban nominations in the Latin Grammys in six categories. The awards ceremony will take place November 15th at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. We wish the best of luck to all the Cuban nominees. We'll see whether the Cubadisco results are echoed at the Latin Grammys.

ESPAÑOL: Este año hay ocho nominaciones cubanas en los Latin Grammys en seis categorías. La entrega de premios tendrá lugar el 15 de noviembre en el MGM Grand Arena de Las Vegas. Deseamos la mejor de las suertes a todos los nominados cubanos. Veremos si los resultados de Cubadisco se repiten en los Latin Grammys.
