This beginning volume uses a special task-by-task audio method to teach to you sing and claps an encyclopedic range of rhythms - essentially all of the basic patterns used for timbales and/or drumset in salsa and timba.
It shares the first three chapters with Beyond Salsa for Beginners, a book for dancers and listeners that also includes extensive historical information and Listening Tours. There is a free audio download which covers parts of this shared material. The rest of this book, Beyond Salsa Percussion for Beginners, goes into the more complext rhythms that involve playing two and three parts at the same time.
