After catching an early set of great music by Joaquín Pozo, I walked a few blocks to The Drom to see Rebel Tumbao's CD release party (and it was definitely a party), co-lead by José Claussell, long time timbalero with Eddie Palmieri and the piano/keyboard player Matt Jensen. They describe their music as 40% salsa, 40% reggae and 20% other (mostly old school soul music). Its high quality groove music and the sold out crowd loved it.
Joe Claussell, José's brother Dj'd to start the show.
