ENGLISH: The party seriously came alive Saturday afternoon at Festival Cubano.   Our friends in Cuba will enjoy learning that Dj Fernando Cuban Mix played Havana d'Primera's Me dicen cuba (and the audience loved it), and Sureya included Juan Formell's Aquí se enciende la candela in her segment   I'll have a story and photos next week, the news du jour is that Festival Cubano goes out to the whole world today.  If you want to watch in Beijing or Vladivostok, there should be a video link on the Festival Cubano website starting at 1600 Coordinated Universal Time (11am in the US) and going until close of festival. Another video link is www.frecuenciaoye.com  AND, from 1600-1700 UTC (11am-Noon Central US), there will be a special edition of Sábados de Fiesta (WCGO AM 1590)  live from the festival.  Must- see TV: Palo! at 23:30 UTC (6:30pm central US).  Must-hear radio:  Sabados de Fiesta at 4pm UTC (11am Central US).

This is going to be a little Chicago-centric, but multiple cities are sometimes involved, and Aruan Ortíz, Mezcla, Harold López-Nussa and Alfredo Rodríguez are all going on tours in the United States very soon, and all of them have stops in Chicago:

1.   Aruan Ortíz Orbiting Quartet.  In Chicago on August 29 at the Beverly Arts Center and Detroit on August 30 at the Detroit Jazz Festival.   This Santiago-born piano virtuoso is now an internationally-famous Jazz artist.   READ MORE HERE

Three interesting Jazz events took place in Chicago over the weekend; you can read about them and see photos here. 

Durante los meses recientes, Bill Tilford había estado trayendo grabaciones actuales y recientes hechas en Cuba y las hechas por cubano-americanos al show de Frank Camacho, Sábados de Fiesta.  Ellos tambien habían entrevistando a músicos cubanos y cubano-americanos. A partir del Domingo, 7 de septiembre de las 2 a las 4 pm hora de Chicago (1900-2100 TUC) en WCEV 1450am, un nuevo show, Domingos Felices, seguirá el mismo formato basico con la música cubana actual, entrevistas, chistes etc. Se puede escuchar el programa (en español) via Internet. Ellos también pondrán otra música latina, pero la música cubana actual recibirá un énfasis especial.
